Review: In 1991, Bret Easton Ellis novel American Psycho guy took the world by storm? Women accused of being misogynist, sexist and other filth were shaken understand enough of brutal and graphic depictions of unprovoked violence and torture.Set in 1980, the book follows the story of 27 year Harvard graduate named Patrick Bateman, who goes on a killing spree and killing twenty, maybe forty people. It was originally scheduled for circulation in 1990, but Random House pulled out of distribution, fearing backlash. It was later released as part of the Vintage Series, and quickly sold over 250,000 copies and became one of the most popular (and, for some, an important) literary of our time.In the movie works, show Welsh actor Christian Bale Bateman gleefully tongue-in-cheek, on his admission to manslaughter on the phone (?, I just had to kill a lot of people!) or dance Huey Lewis and the News album before hitting stuff, Associate Professor in the head with 'axe.Patrick is a quiet guy. On the surface it looks to be normal? HES Wall Street broker with a secretary, expensive apartment suite, his own limo and fancy business card. But inside, he's a monster? complete with an insatiable blood lust and lack of empathy for fellow humans. (If you can actually be classified as one.) As film and novel, American Psycho attack on the absurdities of the 80s yuppie future? Sometimes satire is very subtle, which actually often made very clear, but I liked it. Because the film is so eccentric and over-the-top, and Bale is so wacky and crazy, satire should be equally strong? and it is. If her business men drooling over each other fetishistic card or Patrick discuss the nuances of modern pop music before killing multiple victims, powerful and hard hitting American Psycho? This is great, cinematic and visual experience great. It can not be seen as unsubtle? was.the ever performances are amazing. Bale is superb as Bateman, fully embodying the character. As a man confused by his surroundings, and just wants desperately to fit in, Bateman listening to Genesis and hip to be square, and finally we have proof that too Phil Collins and Huey Lewis will not re you next Ed Gein.Perhaps some fans the new performance will dislike bullets (sometimes, it seems almost comical, as when he murders his colleague Paul Allen, played by Jared Leto). But I thought it was a perfect blend of introspection, self-hatred, out-loathing, lust, compliance and schizophrenia. Balla manages to capture it all perfectly, and by the end of the film, I could not imagine anyone else in role.Willem Dafoe, Chloe Sevigny and Reese Witherspoon co-starred all, but at the end of the day it really drives Bale home this film? HES reason worth watching, and partly because it exceeds beyond the typical limits of genre.Since its release, many critics have accused American Psycho is diluted version of the book, which is both politically correct satire and missing. But I can not remember the last time I saw a man beat a dog to death with the heel of his shoe in mainstream film. Or follow prostitute completely naked, wielding a bloody chainsaw. Or hold a gun to head and threatens to feed cats to ATMs machine.In fact, as American Psycho was previewed before the Motion Picture Association of America, they gave it a NC-17 rating? not for its violence, as one might expect, but their threesome scene between Patrick and Mary Harron two prostitutes.Director footage cut from the film and finally managed to get an R-rating, but new Uncut Killer Collectors Edition DVD, you can see the film was meant to be seen? and is a real nice treat. Now excuse me, I have to return some videotapes.
