Review: Great Roman epic, a la Ben-Hur or Spartacus, it's nice to see something like this done again. It has not been seen since 1960 we are the 3 hour extravaganza this.Like as Ben-Hur, the story of a successful LAN man who loses everything thanks to the bad guy, and then had to fight his way back to seek revenge on the people and the freedom behind it. Its tried-and-true recipe. This form does not go to excessive violence as some of the other newer epic films made, like Braveheart or The Patriot.The acting is ideal, starting with: Russell Crowe, who established the themselves as one of the best actors today. Joaquin Phoenix also put themselves on the map as an actor with a description of his evil Commodus. He's so annoying you want to slap that sucker, I mean he's doing a good acting job. Respect to the rest of the cast, too.Too bad they make more of these types of movies, as they did in 1950 and 1960.
