Review: I dont understand why so many people I talked to either thought the movie was bad or mediocre. Of course, it's not a great film, but when was the last time you have 5 great movies in a row? Great movie comes along once in a blue moon, depending on the definition of big. Personally I am very involved in the plot. Johnny Depp gives a tour-de-force performance, fully devote themselves in the character. Im that he did a lot of research George Jung and try his every mannerism to mimick, because it was far from a half-baked effort. Then again, I do not remember ever Johnny Depp have a movie where he does not put his full enthusiasm in the list. The film has many tragic moments and very funny moments. The movie is a little over 2 hours long, but the time flew by in a breeze. I was so relieved that Im anxious to do research about the real George Jung. I'm not a fan of Penelope Cruz, and they couldve chosen a very good actress, but she is only in the movie about 20 or 30 minutes, so she does not have enough time to destroy the film. Paul Reubens surprisingly earnest performance as flamboyant, bisexual hairdresser. It's a shame he's caught up in this whole conversation, because it seems to have enough range as an actor. I love hearing all the great classic rock songs on the soundtrack, and every time I watch the movie The songs stuck in my head and I started singing them for days on end. Blow is an emotional drama that does not try to explore the world of drugs, and shall condemn it. After the see of Georges tragic consequences as a world-class coke dealer, I doubt anyone will want to go or return to the business, but that does not necessarily mean that the message preached. My score: 8 (out of 10)
